Intro to Montessori & 3-6 Overview

offered as Montessori introduction to non-teaching or specialty staff and required for those elementary teacher candidates without 3-6 credentials*

one week summer training at our on-site program

On-site Program starts: June 18, 2018 through June 22, 2018

an online course option is required for those seeking 9-12 stand alone certification and optional for those taking 6-9 or 6-12 to reduce on-site time by one week.

  • [involves eight weeks of online training with six 1.5-hour live sessions with the instructor on Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. and one 3-hour live session starting at 6:30 p.m. Readings, videos and assignments will be attached to each live session to complete on your own. Elementary I (6-9) Certification Program

eight weeks of training over two summers, three weekend seminars, plus 3 on-site consultation visits, leading to Montessori certification through AMS as an Elementary I teacher (*3-6 overview required for those without 3-6 credentials)

Program starts: June 25, 2018 through July 27, 2018; continues November 2, 2018 through November 4, 2018; May 3, 2019 through May 5, 2019; June 17, 2019 through July 5, 2019; and May 1, 2020 through May 3, 2020.


Elementary II (9-12) Certification Program (Stand Alone)

six weeks of training over one summer, including two Saturdays, a six-week online Montessori Philosophy Into Practice course (see online learning requirements), two weekend seminars, plus 3 on-site consultation visits, leading to Montessori certification through AMS as an Elementary II teacher (*on-line 3-6 overview required for those without 3-6 credentials)

Program starts: June 18, 2018 through July 27, 2018; continues November 2, 2018 through November 4, 2018; May 3, 2019 through May 5, 2019; with on-line course dates TBA (Spring 2018 and Fall 2018).


Elementary I-II (6-12) Certification Program (over Two or Three Summers)

(twelve weeks of training, combines 6-9 schedule for first two summers and 9-12 schedule for second half of second summer or a third summer, including two Saturdays,  4 weekend seminars, plus 3 on-site consultation visits, leading to Montessori certification through AMS as an Elementary I-II teacher) (*3-6 overview required for those without 3-6 credentials)

Program starts: June 25, 2018 through July 27, 2018; continues November 2, 2018 through November 4, 2018; May 3, 2019 through May 5, 2019; June 17, 2019 through July 26, 2019; November 1, 2019 through November 3, 2019; and May 1, 2020 through May 3, 2020. (Dates reflect two summer option, dates for a third summer option are yet to be determined.)


Elementary II (9-12 for holders of an AMS Elementary I credential) Certification Program

(three weeks of summer training, including two Saturdays, and two weekend seminars, leading to Montessori certification through AMS as an Elementary I-II teacher— no consultation visits are required or included if practicum and E-I certified already)

Program starts: July 9, 2018 through July 27, 2018; continues November 2, 2018 through November 4, 2018; and May 3, 2019 through May 5, 2019.
