Montessori Elementary Teacher Certification Programs

A week-long 3-6 Overview is required for all those without EC certification. The 6-9 program involves two summers totaling nine weeks, plus two weekend seminars. The 6-12 course work can be completed over three summers totaling 11 weeks, plus 4 weekend seminars over the three years.  The 9-12 program (for holders of an AMS Elementary I credential) involves three and a half weeks in the summer and two weekend seminars over the school year. METTC certification programs are accredited by MACTE (www.macte.org) and AMS-affiliated.

Intro to Montessori & 3-6 Overview

(one week, offered as Montessori introduction to non-teaching or specialty staff and required for those elementary teachers without 3-6 credentials)

  • June 19 – 23, 2017    (This Overview cohort is now full.)

Elementary I (6-9) Certification Program

(9 weeks of training over two summers, two weekend seminars, plus 3 on-site consultation visits)

  • First Summer — June 26 – July 21, 2017
  • Fall Seminar — November 4 – 5, 2017

 Elementary I-II (6-12) Certification Program in Three Summers

(Combines 6-9 schedule for first two summers and 9-12 schedule for third summer; includes same 4 weekend seminars, plus 3 on-site consultation visits)

 Elementary II (9-12 for holders of an AMS Elementary I credential) Certification Program

(three and a half weeks of summer training, and two weekend seminars — no consultation visits are required or included if already 6-9 certified)

  • Summer — July 5 – 28, 2017
  • Fall Seminar — November 3 – 5, 2017
  • Spring Seminar — May 4 – 6, 2018

 Elementary I-II (6-12) Certification Program in Two Summers

(11 weeks of training over two summers, four weekend seminars, plus 3 on-site consultation visits)

  • METTC will not be offer this track this summer, you may apply for the 6-12 in three summers or contact our admissions director for more information (D'Neil@mettc.org)
